Business Experience
During the five years, Harry worked with Thomas & Howard Company it was the world’s largest wholesale distributor.  He was responsible for setting up wholesale Cash & Carry stores in three states.  When he left the company, he was Vice-President of Operations.

 

Harry worked in the Broadcasting industry from 1976 – 1996.  He started out in sales and continued to sell throughout His career. He also worked on the air, broadcasted live remotes, announced sporting events and wrote commercials.  He performed bookkeeping and payroll duties at different times. He passed his test for a Federal Communications Commission Third Class Engineer’s License with a broadcast endorsement.

 

During the majority of his broadcast career, the FCC only granted broadcast facilities a three year license.  The field of communications was the most over regulated industry in the world.  Operators had to perform community ascertainments in order to continue to be licensed.  The broadcast facilities in the Research Triangle Area of North Carolina of which two of  his stations were members was considered by the FCC to be the best in the country.

 

He was elected to every office in the following broadcast associations:  The Durham Broadcasters Association, The Research Triangle Area Broadcasters Association and the Broadcasters of Eastern North Carolina.

Law Enforcement Experience

Harry worked on federal , state and local task forces fighting the war on drugs. Currently a Special Deputy, he served five years with the Rowan County ABC police.  Duties included: stakeouts, watching illegal stills, patrolling the county for suspected bootleggers transporting non-tax paid whiskey, working undercover to purchase illegal liquor and participating in raids on stills and gambling houses.  Their agency also worked with the U.S. Treasury Department’s local office of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms which increased their coverage area to eight counties.

 

Currently a special deputy with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Department.
